Education or Cruelty? Student Brutally Beaten by Teacher in Primary School; Villagers Block Main Road in Protest

Darbhanga: An incident that has shamed the sanctity of education has come to light at the Primary School located in Katma Bahuarwa Panchayat. A young, innocent student became the victim of a teacher’s rage. The teacher, Ram Prasad Ram, is accused of beating a third-grade student, Abhay Kumar, so brutally that the child was left seriously injured and had to be rushed to the hospital. Following the incident, furious villagers blocked the main road near the school for several hours and demanded strict action against the guilty teacher.

Details of the Incident: A 'Punishment' for the Innocent

According to the information received, the victim, Abhay Kumar, was in school when the incident occurred. Over a minor issue, teacher Ram Prasad Ram reportedly lost his temper and subjected the student to a severe beating with a stick, punches, and kicks. Eyewitnesses stated that the teacher did not stop until the child collapsed on the floor.

The child's family members stated that when they reached the school, their son was groaning in pain and had deep marks of the beating all over his body. He was immediately rushed to the local Primary Health Center (PHC), where, considering the severity of his injuries, doctors admitted him for better treatment.

Public Outrage: Road Blockade and Protest

As news of the incident spread through the village, hundreds of residents gathered at the school premises. The villagers raised serious questions regarding the conduct of the teacher. The angry crowd blocked the main road passing by the school, bringing traffic to a complete standstill.

The Villagers' Main Demands:

Immediate Suspension: The guilty teacher, Ram Prasad Ram, must be suspended with immediate effect.

Legal Action: An FIR should be registered against the teacher, and he should be arrested.

Guarantee of Safety: The administration must provide a written assurance regarding the safety of children in the school.

The protesting villagers said, "We send our children to school to get an education, not to be beaten by teachers. If this continues, parents will stop sending their children to school altogether."

Administrative Response and Investigation

Upon receiving the information, the local police and the Block Education Extension Officer (BEEO) arrived at the scene. The police attempted to pacify the angry crowd to clear the blockade. Administrative officials have assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted and that no guilty party will be spared.

Education department officials stated that a report is being sent to the District Magistrate for departmental action against the teacher. Additionally, an explanation has also been sought from the School Management Committee (SMC) regarding this matter.

Growing Violence in Temples of Learning: A Serious Concern

This incident places a significant question mark on the growing violent tendencies occurring in schools, which are often called temples of learning. Despite the legal ban on corporal punishment, such cases continue to emerge in rural areas, openly violating child rights laws.

Psychologists believe that such beatings cause deep trauma to the mental health of children and create an atmosphere of fear toward education.

Currently, Abhay Kumar is undergoing treatment at the hospital, and his condition is reported to be stable. Meanwhile, the eyes of the local community are fixed on the administration's next steps. The people of Katma Bahuarwa Panchayat are united in their demand for strict punishment for the culprit so that no other child has to face such harassment in the future.
