Delegation of Secondary Teachers' Association Meets RDDE, Receives Assurance for Swift Resolution of Pending Issues

Bhagalpur: A delegation from the Bihar Secondary Teachers' Association, Bhagalpur, held a formal meeting with Regional Deputy Director of Education (RDDE) Subhash Gupta at his office on Tuesday. The primary objective of this meeting was to bring the long-standing grievances of secondary and higher secondary school teachers to the administration's attention and to demand concrete steps toward resolving them.

Detailed Discussion on Teachers' Issues

During the meeting, the association's office-bearers submitted a memorandum to the RDDE covering various points. The delegation explained that teachers in the district are facing a multitude of administrative and financial challenges, which are negatively impacting the teaching environment and the morale of the teaching staff. The key topics of discussion included:

Payment of Salaries and Arrears: Concern was expressed regarding the delays in salary disbursement and the non-payment of pending arrears.

Promotion Matters: A demand was raised to complete the long-pending promotion process for teachers in a time-bound manner.

Service Books and Pensions: Emphasis was placed on simplifying the pension process for retiring teachers and resolving technical issues currently hindering the updation of service books.

Transfers and Postings: A request was made to consider applications for mutual and other transfers with a sympathetic approach.

RDDE Provides Positive Assurance

Listening intently to the delegation, RDDE Subhash Gupta assured them of swift departmental action to resolve all grievances. He stated that protecting the interests of teachers is a top priority for the department. The RDDE clarified that instructions would be issued to the relevant offices regarding the payment of pending salaries and other dues to ensure that teachers do not face financial distress. Furthermore, he assured that cases involving technical obstacles would be addressed on a priority basis.

The Association's Stance

The members of the association present at the meeting expressed their gratitude to the RDDE and stated that they are hopeful the issues will be resolved within the timeframe indicated by the administration. The office-bearers also cautioned that if the grievances are not redressed within the specified time, the association would be forced to consider further courses of action.
