Patna: The Danapur Police in Patna have cracked a cargo pickup theft case by arresting two accused, including a parking lot operator and a scrap dealer. According to police, a cargo pickup belonging to Rajesh Ranjan went missing from a parking facility on July 15. Taking the case seriously, the Danapur Police formed a special investigation team and successfully traced the suspects using CCTV footage and technical evidence.
Police officials said the case was solved with the help of CCTV footage, digital evidence, and sustained interrogation. Investigators are now trying to determine whether more individuals were involved in the theft and whether the accused were part of a larger vehicle theft racket.
Pickup Vehicle Went Missing from Parking Lot
According to police, Rajesh Ranjan had parked his cargo pickup at a designated parking facility on July 15. When he later returned to collect the vehicle, it had disappeared.
After searching unsuccessfully for the vehicle, he filed a theft complaint at the Danapur Police Station. The police immediately launched an investigation.
CCTV Footage Provided Crucial Leads
Following the complaint, investigators examined CCTV footage from the parking area and nearby locations. The recordings reportedly revealed important clues that helped police identify the suspects.
Based on the footage, police questioned the parking operator. During interrogation, inconsistencies in his statements reportedly raised further suspicion.
Parking Operator and Scrap Dealer Arrested
After continuous questioning and technical investigation, police arrested the parking operator along with a local scrap dealer.
According to officials, the interrogation of both suspects has yielded significant information. Investigators are now trying to determine whether the stolen pickup had been dismantled for scrap or was intended to be sold elsewhere.
Investigation into a Larger Theft Network
Police suspect that the case may not be an isolated incident. They are examining whether the accused were connected to an organized vehicle theft syndicate operating in and around Patna.
Officials said legal action would also be taken against any additional suspects identified during the investigation.
Technical Evidence Played a Key Role
The Danapur Police relied heavily on technical evidence to solve the case. Besides CCTV footage, investigators analyzed mobile call detail records (CDRs), location data, and other digital evidence.
Police officials noted that modern technology has significantly improved their ability to track criminals and solve vehicle theft cases.
Efforts Underway to Recover the Vehicle
Police teams are continuing raids at multiple locations in an effort to recover the stolen cargo pickup. Acting on information obtained during the interrogation, investigators are conducting searches at several suspected locations.
Officials expressed confidence that the vehicle would be recovered soon.
Judicial Proceedings Begin
After the initial interrogation, both accused were produced before a local court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
Police may seek their custodial remand if further questioning is required to uncover the entire theft network and identify additional accomplices.

Use only authorized and reliable parking facilities.
Always collect a parking receipt after parking a vehicle.
