According to local sources, the couple had left their village on Tuesday morning and were travelling to Garhani on a motorcycle for personal work.

Eyewitnesses said that as they reached near Balbandh village, a truck trailer approaching from behind struck their motorcycle. The impact was so severe that both riders were thrown onto the road and died on the spot due to critical injuries.

Villagers Stage Road Blockade

Angered by the incident, villagers blocked the Garhani–Manaini road and demanded immediate government compensation for the victims' families, strict action against the truck driver, and adequate support for the bereaved family.

The road blockade resulted in long traffic jams on both sides of the highway, forcing many motorists to seek alternative routes.

Police Attempt to Restore Order

Police personnel from Charpokhari Police Station reached the location soon after receiving information about the accident. Officers held discussions with protesters and the victims' relatives to calm the situation.

The administration assured the villagers that the case would be investigated impartially and that strict legal action would be taken against those found responsible. Officials also promised to facilitate government compensation in accordance with applicable rules.

After prolonged negotiations, the situation gradually began returning to normal, although discussions between the administration and villagers were still continuing at the time of reporting.

Investigation Into the Cause of the Accident

Preliminary findings suggest that both the motorcycle and the truck trailer were travelling in the same direction when the collision occurred.

Police are investigating whether the accident resulted from overspeeding, negligent driving, or an unsafe overtaking attempt. Officers are collecting evidence from the accident site and recording statements from eyewitnesses.

If necessary, CCTV footage from nearby locations will also be examined to determine the exact sequence of events.

Search Underway for the Driver

Police have launched efforts to identify and trace the truck trailer driver. Based on the vehicle's registration details, investigators are gathering information about the owner and driver involved in the incident.

Villagers said the couple had been working hard to build a better future for their family, and no one had imagined that their lives would end in such a tragic accident.

Renewed Concerns Over Road Safety

The fatal crash has once again raised concerns about road safety and the movement of heavy vehicles on the Garhani–Manaini route.

Residents alleged that truck trailers and other heavy vehicles frequently travel at high speeds on the road, increasing the risk of accidents. They urged the administration to implement stricter speed control measures, install warning signs, and strengthen traffic enforcement.

Demand for Swift Administrative Action

Local residents and public representatives have urged the administration to provide immediate financial assistance to the victims' families, conduct a fair investigation, and ensure strict legal action against the driver responsible for the accident.

They stressed that preventing road accidents requires not only action after such incidents but also proactive road safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic regulations.

Community in Mourning

The deaths of the young couple have plunged Bahri village and surrounding areas into mourning. Residents continue to gather at the victims' home to express their condolences and support the grieving family.

Police have taken custody of the bodies and initiated the legal formalities. The bodies will be handed over to the families after post-mortem examinations. Meanwhile, the investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have assured that further action will be taken based on the findings.
