Construction Material Worth ₹1.25 Lakh Stolen from an Under-Construction House in Shivpuri Colony; Police Investigate

Jamalpur (Munger): Thieves have once again challenged law and order in the Adarsh Police Station area of Jamalpur. Targeting an under-construction house in Shivpuri Colony, unknown thieves made off with construction materials worth lakhs. This incident has become a cause of concern for the house owner and the surrounding residents. The total value of the stolen materials is estimated to be around ₹1.25 lakh. Upon receiving the information, the police became active and have initiated an investigation into the matter.

Details of the Incident

According to the victimized homeowner, he visits the site regularly to oversee the construction work. The theft occurred sometime between June 28 and June 30. When the owner reached the site on June 30, he found that the materials kept in the storeroom and on the premises were missing.

The unknown thieves targeted the construction site with great cunning. The stolen materials mainly include expensive electrical wires, pipes, fitting accessories, and several bags of cement. The disappearance of such a large quantity of material indicates that the thieves carried out this incident in a well-planned manner and likely used a large vehicle to transport the goods.

Victim's Complaint and Police Action

Immediately after the incident, the homeowner filed a written complaint against unknown thieves at the Adarsh Police Station in Jamalpur. In his complaint, he mentioned that he had been saving for years to build his home, but the thieves destroyed his hard-earned efforts in a few hours.

The Station House Officer (SHO) provided the following information:

"A case has been registered. Initial investigation suggests the incident occurred during the night between June 28 and June 30. We are scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to identify the suspects. The criminals will be caught soon."

Increasing Threat to Construction Sites

Shivpuri Colony is considered one of the developed and quiet areas of Jamalpur, but this theft has proven that thieves are in no mood to spare any location. Under-construction houses are often 'easy targets' for thieves because they lack strict security arrangements and remain deserted late at night.

Why Vigilance is Necessary?

This incident has forced the local residents to think about their security. A few lessons can be learned from this theft case:

Deployment of a Security Guard: If the construction project is large, hiring a night watchman or guard should be mandatory.

CCTV Cameras: Installing CCTV cameras and motion-sensor lights from the very beginning of the construction phase has become essential.

Keeping Stock Low: Instead of keeping all expensive construction materials on-site at once, they should be procured as needed.

Coordination with Neighbors: If the house is currently unoccupied, make sure to request neighbors to keep an eye on the property.

Questions on Law and Order in Jamalpur

The series of thefts in the city has created a sense of insecurity among the common citizens. Although the police claim to conduct regular patrols, the fact that criminals fearlessly escaped with materials worth lakhs raises questions about the police's working style. Local residents say that if the police tighten night patrols, such crimes can be curbed.

Currently, the police investigation is underway, and the victim's family is awaiting justice. This theft case is not just an economic loss but also a sign of increasing criminal activity in the area. The administration must now take concrete action to crush the morale of the criminals.
