Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary Inaugurates Malahi Pakdi Metro Station, Giving Residents a Major Boost

Patna: Today marks a historic day for the residents of Bihar’s capital. On Thursday, July 2, 2026, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary officially inaugurated the 'Malahi Pakdi' metro station as part of the Patna Metro expansion project. With this new addition, the reach of the Patna Metro has significantly extended, ushering in a new era in the city's public transportation system.

A Major Relief for Residents of Kankarbagh and Rajendra Nagar

This expansion provides immense convenience to thousands of people living in densely populated areas like Kankarbagh and Rajendra Nagar. Commuters who previously struggled through severe traffic congestion on the roads to reach ISBT or other major destinations now have access to a safe, fast, and reliable mode of transport. Following the inauguration, the Chief Minister himself boarded the metro and traveled from Malahi Pakdi to Bhootnath. During this journey, he purchased his ticket like an ordinary passenger.

Key Highlights of the Expansion:

Route Distance: The 6.2-kilometer corridor from New ISBT to Malahi Pakdi is now operational.

Time Efficiency: With this new service launched by the Chief Minister, the journey from ISBT to Malahi Pakdi can now be completed in just 15–16 minutes.

Major Stations: Passengers can now utilize the services at Malahi Pakdi, Bhootnath, Zero Mile, and ISBT stations.

Fare: Passengers traveling from New ISBT to Malahi Pakdi will be charged a fare of ₹30.

Technical and Operational Details

According to the Metro Rail Corporation, metro services were temporarily suspended from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the day of the inauguration due to technical preparations and security protocols. However, regular operations resumed immediately after the inauguration ceremony at 4:00 PM. Currently, trains will be available on this route at an interval of every 35 minutes.

It is also worth noting that construction work at the 'Khemnichak' station on this route is still nearing completion, so the metro will not be halting there for the time being.

Government's Commitment

On this occasion, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary stated that this is a significant step toward transforming Patna into a modern, world-class smart city. He has directed the officials associated with the metro project to accelerate the work on all remaining phases so that the citizens of Patna can benefit from the full metro service as soon as possible.

For the residents of Patna, the opening of the Malahi Pakdi station is not just a new mode of transport; it is seen as the beginning of a new era for real estate and local business development in the region.
