Bihar Higher Education Major Push: Evening Classes in 10 Top Colleges; A.N. College to Become Deemed University
In a significant move to overhaul the higher education landscape in Bihar, the State Higher Education Department has conceptualized two major structural reforms. The official proposal has been dispatched to the Raj Bhavan (Governor's Secretariat) for final approval.
'Evening Shifts' in 10 Premier Colleges, Including Patna Science College
To maximize the utilization of existing institutional infrastructure and accommodate working students, the state plans to introduce evening academic shifts.
Core Objective: Optimization of resources and a significant boost to the state's Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER).
Key Institutions: 10 prestigious colleges across Bihar, prominently featuring Patna Science College, are included in the first phase.
A.N. College Set to be Upgraded to a Deemed University
Patna’s renowned Anugrah Narayan (A.N.) College is on track to transition from an affiliated college into an independent, self-governing institution.
The Transition: The college will be upgraded and granted the status of a Deemed University.
The Benefit: This autonomy will empower the institution to design its own cutting-edge curriculum, launch modern courses, and conduct independent examinations.
These strategic reforms aim to curb student migration from Bihar for higher studies, while the flexible evening slots will provide an excellent opportunity for working professionals to resume or continue their education.
