Bhagalpur: OPD at Mayaganj Hospital and Sadar Hospital to Remain Closed Today Due to Muharram; Emergency Services to Continue

Bhagalpur, June 26, 2026: In view of the auspicious occasion of Muharram, changes have been made to the operation of health services at major government hospitals in Bhagalpur today, Friday. According to administrative instructions, the OPD (Outpatient Department) services at the city's largest government institution, Mayaganj Hospital (JLNMCH), and Sadar Hospital will remain closed for the day.

Emergency and Essential Services to Continue

Despite the closure of the OPD, the hospital administration has clarified for the convenience of patients that emergency services will remain completely normal. Patients who are in a critical condition or require immediate medical assistance can contact the hospital's emergency ward without any hindrance.

Emergency Ward: Will remain open 24 hours.

Maternity Services: The labor room and maternity-related emergency services will function smoothly.

Medicine Distribution: Medicines related to the hospital's emergency department will be available.

Administration's Advice for Patients

Hospital management has appealed to city residents and patients coming from far-flung areas to visit on Saturday (June 27) for routine check-ups or consultations, when OPD services will resume as per their scheduled time. This decision has been taken in view of the public holiday situation due to Muharram, so that health personnel can be facilitated in managing arrangements related to the festival.

Atmosphere of Peace and Security in the City

The district administration is fully prepared to maintain peace in Bhagalpur on the occasion of Muharram. Akhada and Nishan processions are being taken out from various neighborhoods. Along with this, programs like sharbat and drinking water distribution for the devotees are also being organized by social organizations, which are sending a message of mutual brotherhood and harmony in the city.

The closure of the OPD may cause some inconvenience to patients, but the district administration and the Health Department have ensured that critical patients do not face any kind of problem. Health services will be fully restored to normal from Saturday.
