17th Pran Pratishtha Festival to be Celebrated at Khatu Shyam Temple in Chunihari Tola on July 10; Committee Engaged in Grand Preparations
Bhagalpur: The 17th Pran Pratishtha (consecration) festival will be celebrated with great fervor and devotion at the ancient Khatu Shyam Temple, located in the historic Chunihari Tola area of the city, on July 10. Given the grandeur and spiritual significance of this approximately 166-year-old temple, there is immense enthusiasm among the devotees regarding this celebration. The temple committee has already begun preparations to ensure the success of this significant event.
A Glorious History
This Khatu Shyam Temple in Chunihari Tola is not only known for its religious importance but is also a symbol of Bhagalpur's cultural heritage. According to the temple committee, this 166-year-old temple underwent a major renovation in 2010. Since then, the Pran Pratishtha festival has been celebrated as a major event every year. This year, the festival marks its 17th anniversary.
A Day Filled with Religious Rituals
The temple premises are being specially decorated for the festival on July 10. Sharing the detailed outline of the event, committee members mentioned that the day will begin at dawn with special prayers and Abhishek (ritual bathing of the deity).
Morning Rituals: In the morning, a special Abhishek and Shringar (ornamentation) of Baba Shyam will be performed, following which devotees will be able to offer their prayers in a traditional manner.
Evening Programs: A grand Aarti will be held in the evening, followed by devotional music and a Bhajan Sandhya (devotional songs session). Local and renowned artists will offer their musical performances at the feet of Baba.
Enthusiasm Among Devotees
Members of the temple committee are working day and night to ensure the success of the event. Devotees from Chunihari Tola and surrounding areas are also contributing in every possible way. Special arrangements for 'Darshan' (viewing the deity) have been made for the devotees so that the process remains smooth despite the expected large crowds.
Devotees believe that merely having a glimpse of Khatu Shyam Ji fulfills all wishes, and the day of this Pran Pratishtha festival is the best opportunity to express gratitude toward Baba. The temple premises are expected to become even more vibrant in the coming days, as a large number of 'Shyam Premi' (devotees of Shyam) from neighboring districts are also expected to arrive to participate in the event.
A Spirit of Service and Dedication
The office-bearers of the temple committee associated with the event have appealed to all devotees to attend the celebration in large numbers, receive Prasad, and seek the blessings of Baba. A team of local volunteers will also be deployed to ensure security and maintain peace and order during the event.
