Last Date Extended for Intermediate Spot Admission for Session 2026–28; Students Can Now Take Admission Until August 11, Educational Institutions Directed to Update Details on Portal

Bhagalpur, Special Correspondent: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has issued a major relief update for students who missed out on admission to Intermediate (Class 11) for the 2026–28 session. The board has extended the deadline for the spot admission process conducted via the OFSS portal. Students can now complete their spot admissions at their respective recognized plus-two schools and colleges from August 5 to August 11, 2026. This decision brings immense relief to thousands of students whose names had not appeared in any merit lists or who could not secure admission during earlier rounds due to various reasons.

What is the Complete Process and Rules for Spot Admission?

The Bihar School Examination Board has clarified that this spot admission process depends entirely on the availability of seats:

Information on Vacant Seats: For the convenience of students, the subject-wise details of vacant seats in various educational institutions (colleges and schools) have been uploaded to the OFSS portal. Through the portal, students can check how many seats are vacant in which stream (Arts, Science, Commerce, or Vocational) at any given institution.

Direct Contact with Colleges: Under spot admission, students must directly contact the Principal of the respective educational institution. Students can submit their applications and necessary documents to request admission at colleges or schools where seats are vacant.

Eligibility: Eligible students who passed Class 10 from CBSE, ICSE, or other recognized boards, alongside the Bihar Board, are also permitted to participate in this process. Students who had not applied previously or were not allotted colleges in earlier lists can take advantage of this opportunity.

Strict Instructions Issued to Educational Institutions

The board has issued clear directives to the principals of all recognized intermediate-level educational institutions and plus-two schools across the state to maintain absolute transparency during the admission process:

Mandatory Daily Detail Updates: All colleges have been strictly instructed to update the details of daily admissions on the OFSS portal in a timely manner.

Adherence to the Deadline: Institutions have been directed to completely update and submit the final online data of all approved admissions on the portal by August 12 at any cost, ensuring there is no room for discrepancies.

Documents Required for Students

Students arriving at colleges for spot admission must keep the following important documents ready in both original and photocopy formats:

Class 10 Mark Sheet and Passing Certificate.

School Leaving Certificate (SLC / CLC).

Character Certificate.

Passport-size color photographs.

Aadhaar Card or other valid identity proof.

Caste, Income, and Domicile certificates, if applicable.

The extension of the intermediate spot admission date for the 2026–28 session to August 11 by the Bihar Board has prevented students' academic year from being wasted. Educationists and experts advise that instead of waiting until the final deadline (August 11), students should immediately visit nearby or preferred colleges to check the status of vacant seats and complete their procedures in a timely manner, ensuring they can safely begin their further studies.
