Junction Gate No. 4 Closed for Elevated Road Construction; Heavy Barricading Installed
In a major step toward transforming the railway station into a world-class transit hub, a significant operational change has been implemented under the ongoing mega redevelopment project. To accelerate the construction of the state-of-the-art elevated road within the station premises, Gate No. 4 of the Junction has been completely closed. The railway administration has put up robust barricading around the gate to ensure safety and facilitate smooth construction work.
Why has Gate No. 4 been closed? (Project Details)
Construction of Elevated Road: Under the world-class station redevelopment plan, an elevated roadway is being constructed to ensure a congestion-free layout and allow direct vehicle access to the station.
Piling and Heavy Machinery Operations: Heavy piling rigs and machinery are being deployed right next to Gate No. 4 to excavate and cast pillars for the elevated structure. Blocking this zone was mandatory to protect passengers from heavy construction hazards.
Impact on Passengers & Alternate Routes
With the closure of Gate No. 4, passenger movement patterns at the station have been temporarily adjusted:
| Affected Area | Current Status | Alternate Route / Guidelines for Passengers |
|---|---|---|
| Gate No. 4 | Completely Closed | Pedestrian and vehicular entry/exit through this route is strictly prohibited. |
| New Exit Route | Operational | Passengers can now use the alternative open stretch leading toward Mal Godam Chowk to reach the main road. |
| Other Main Gates | Normal Operations | All other primary entry and exit points of the station remain fully functional as before. |
Special Advisory for Travelers
Due to the barricading and heavy machinery movement, traffic pressure may increase around the station's main entry points during peak hours (morning and evening). Passengers catching trains are advised to reach the station slightly ahead of their scheduled departure time to avoid any last-minute hassle.
